THE QURBAN PROGRAM
Celebrating the worship of Allah (SWT) by helping those in need during Eid al-Adha.
"Sharing the Blessings of Sacrifice"
Alwaasi Charity, together with international and local partners, runs a complete, transparent Qurban Program across Uganda.
Qurbani means sacrifice. Every year during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims around the world slaughter an animal – a goat, sheep, cow or camel – to reflect the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail, for the sake of God.
We handle everything so your sacrifice reaches the right people:
- Selection of Healthy Animals — Only the best sheep, goats, cows from trusted sources.
- Halal Slaughter — Performed by qualified scholars and butchers at the right time.
- Professional Processing — Meat is cleanly portioned into family-sized packs (typically 2kg).
- Refrigerated Transport — Ensuring freshness even on long journeys (e.g., from remote areas like Amudat to Kampala).
- Fair & Wide Distribution — Delivered directly to beneficiaries with care and compassion.
In 2025 alone, we slaughtered 50 cows in Amudat, transported the meat 820 km in a refrigerated truck, and reached over 1,000 individuals — including orphanages, refugee communities, mosques, and neighbourhoods.
Giving Qurbani is obligatory for every Muslim who is financially able to do so. There are also Qurbani rules which dictate which animals can be sacrificed, the quality of the life it has led, its health status and guidelines on how the sacrifice must be carried out.
Our Impact
Every Qurbani package brings more than food — it brings hope, joy, and a sense of community during Eid al-Adha.
- Families enjoy nutritious meals for days.
- Vulnerable people feel remembered and supported.
- The spirit of sacrifice and generosity spreads among neighbours and communities.
Our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to make sure every donation creates maximum impact.
