From Your Donations to Their Homes: Kamuli End-of-Year Drive

We conducted our end-of-year charity drive at Masjid Tahuwa in the Namukunyu community, Kamuli District. The initiative aimed to bring essential relief to vulnerable and underprivileged families as we welcomed the new year, 2026.

Upon arriving in the community, we were warmly welcomed by the Imam of Masjid Taqwa at his home. He graciously introduced us to his family and the dedicated team he works with at the mosque.
We then proceeded to the mosque, where a large crowd of eager beneficiaries had already gathered to await our arrival. The turnout far exceeded our expectations, and we were able to distribute aid to approximately 70% of those present.

Following the prayers, the Imam kindly introduced our team to the congregation. Shk Osama Ssemanda then delivered an inspiring keynote speech on behalf of Alwaasi Charity.

Afterward, we moved outside to begin the distribution, where our volunteers played a vital role in handing out provisions and ensuring an orderly flow for the beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries Served

We directly supported 40 vulnerable families in the Namukunyu community, bringing relief and joy to their homes as they entered the new year.

Donations & Contributions:

10 Holy Qurans donated to Masjid Tahuwa in Namukunyu, empowering religious learning and spiritual growth for the entire community.
Essential food items per family:
- 5kg of maize flour
- 2.5kg of beans
Clothing sourced from our headquarters, providing warm and practical support for families in need.

Challenges Encountered:

Beneficiary turnout exceeded expectations, creating a shortfall in the number of families that could be served fully.
Distributing food and clothing items required careful coordination due to the congestion.

﴿ مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ حَبَّةٍ أَنبَتَتْ سَبْعَ سَنَابِلَ فِي كُلِّ سُنبُلَةٍ مِائَةُ حَبَّةٍ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يُضَاعِفُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ ۗ

وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ ﴾

The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills…”

Our Impact

40 Families received essential food supplies and clothing.
10 Qurans donated to Masjid Tahuwa will strengthen the local community’s religious education and spiritual engagement.

Community Needs & Future Recommendations:

The community possesses 3.5 acres of land and has proposed constructing a larger mosque to accommodate the growing Muslim population.
Establishing a Quran and Islamic teaching center/school will provide structured religious education for children and adults.
Additional fundraising and community engagement are recommended to support these development projects.

Conclusion

Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah, our end-of-year charity drive in Namukunyu was a beautiful success. The overwhelming turnout, the shining faces of the beneficiaries, and the heartfelt duʿāʾs that filled the air all bear witness to the barakah in your generous donations.

Though the large crowd reminded us of the immense needs still present and the necessity to prepare even greater provisions next time, the impact was undeniable: 40 families welcomed 2026 with food on their tables, clothes on their backs, and the light of the Qurʾān in their mosque.

None of this would have been possible without you.

The community has shared their heartfelt dreams with us — expanding Masjid Tahuwa and establishing a proper Qurʾān and Islamic teaching centre on their 3.5 acres of land.
