The Challenge: Mothers Carrying Heavy Burdens Alone
At the Mukisa Foundation, we encountered mothers raising children with disabilities — strong women who, despite their courage, faced immense economic hardship. Many had limited opportunities for employment, as caring for their children full-time often meant sacrificing the chance to build stable incomes. Without support, these mothers risked falling deeper into poverty, leaving both themselves and their children vulnerable.
Our Approach: Tools for Dignity and Independence
Believing in the dignity of every mother and the importance of empowering families, Alwaasi Charity launched an outreach initiative to the Mukisa Foundation with a clear goal: equip these mothers with the tools they need to start small businesses.
- We provided salon equipment and other startup instruments tailored to their skills and aspirations.
- Through mentorship, encouragement, and material support, we aimed to open new paths for self-reliance and hope.
This was not simply charity — it was an investment in mothers’ ability to reclaim their strength and stability.
The Outcome: New Beginnings, New Strength
Today, thanks to this outreach:
- Mothers have launched small salons and home-based businesses, creating steady sources of income.
- Families are beginning to experience greater financial security.
- Most importantly, these women have gained confidence — proving to themselves and their communities that they are not defined by hardship but by resilience.
By giving the gift of opportunity, we have helped plant seeds of independence that will grow for years to come.
Our Appeal: Help Us Reach More Families
Many more mothers across our communities continue to struggle in silence, longing for a chance to provide for their children with dignity.
We invite you to stand with us as we extend this program further — equipping more women with the tools and training they need to build better futures.
