As the holy month of Ramadhan continues to unite Muslims worldwide in prayer, reflection, and…
On June 9, 2025, AlWaasi Charity Foundation celebrated Eid al-Adha by bringing the spirit of Qurban to vulnerable communities across Uganda. Through our dedicated efforts, we distributed meat from 50 cows to orphanages, refugee communities, mosques, and families in need, ensuring that the blessings of this sacred occasion reached those who needed it most. Here’s a look at the impact of our Qurban 2025 initiative.
A Journey of Compassion: From Amudat to Kampala
The Qurban 2025 project began with the slaughter of 50 cows in Amudat District on June 8, 2025. Despite challenging road conditions and an 820 km journey, our team successfully transported the meat to our head office in Kampala using a 12-ton refrigerated truck, ensuring freshness and hygiene. From there, we coordinated a widespread distribution effort to bring nourishment and joy to hundreds of families.
Reaching Orphanages and Refugee Communities
Our mission prioritized the most vulnerable. We provided one cow to each of three Muslim orphanages—Al Johan Orphanage, SISU Orphanage, and Zaituni Orphanage—delivering essential nutrition to the children in their care. Additionally, we supported Sudanese refugee communities in Kampala’s Kisaasi and Kawempe neighborhoods, with each community receiving one cow to share among its members.
Nourishing Neighborhoods and Mosques
The Qurban meat reached eight neighborhoods across Kampala: Kisaasi, Kawempe, Lunguja, Wandegeya, Buziga, Najeera, Namugongo, and Kyebando. In these areas, families came together to receive and share the blessings of Eid al-Adha.
Five mosques and Dawah centers each received one cow, with the meat distributed to 33 individuals per center, benefiting a total of 165 people. At our Kampala head office, we portioned the meat into 2kg packs and distributed them to over 1,000 individuals, prioritizing widows, the elderly, displaced families, and less privileged families.
Extending Support to Congolese Refugees and Masjid Dawaa
In the spirit of unity, AlWaasi extended logistical support to Congolese refugee communities and Masjid Dawaa in Kampala. We facilitated the handling and transport of their own 40 cows, ensuring their communities could also partake in the Qurban celebrations. This collaboration strengthened our shared commitment to compassion and community welfare.
Overcoming Challenges with Dedication
The long distance and poor road conditions between Amudat and Kampala posed a challenge, but our team’s commitment ensured the meat was delivered in excellent condition. This success reflects AlWaasi’s dedication to serving communities with care and professionalism.
